A Message from Your Superintendent
To Our Panther Families and Community
Dear Panther Families and Community,
First and foremost, thank you for welcoming me into the Frankfort Independent district with such open arms and excitement. Myself and my family are so very grateful and proud to be a part of a community that is so deeply committed to tradition and high expectations for ALL students.
The Frankfort Independent Schools are a unique community in which there is a strong commitment to a 3:1 Approach that involves focusing on equipping students with social/emotional supports, academic/behavioral supports, and access to opportunities. Through these three commitments, we are providing learning experiences that inspire students, families, and staff to aim high and grow into the best version of themselves.
Some of the ways that the FIS are committed to the process of continuous improvement are:
Offering Early College course options for all students at Frankfort High School.
Providing Chinese language classes for kindergarten through 12th grade.
Placing an intentional focus on developing academic skills from birth to age 5.
Continued partnership with the Trailblazer Academy in the Mercer County Schools to broaden our career and technical education opportunities.
Continued partnership with Cumberland Family Medical in order to ensure the establishment of Healthy Kids Clinics in both of our schools that are fully staffed with school nurses and a nurse practitioner.
Utilizing the Summit Learning platform in grades 4-12 to ensure personalized learning pathways for students.
Wraparound childcare services for students who attend the FIS Preschool and Early Learning Academy.
Mental health supports via on-site school counselors, district mental health counselors, and a district social worker.
A Farm to School Grant that provides fresh foods for our school cafeterias.
A focus on innovative learning experiences - Profile of a Graduate work, exit presentations at 5th, 8th, and 12th grades, Laboratories of Learning partnership with KDE, Deeper Learning Grant through the Central Ky Education Cooperative, among others.
So many other ways to access opportunities, that are far too many to list.
The team of educators in the Frankfort Independent Schools are dedicated to providing our students with the support they need and access to opportunities, each and every day. Thank you for allowing us to educate, care for, and love your students. We are so honored to get to do so! Go PANTHERS!
Best,
Sheri D. Satterly
