The Frankfort Independent School District seeks as its next Superintendent an innovative and student-centered instructional leader with a demonstrated track record of improving achievement and outcomes. Candidates should have strong interpersonal skills, experience serving a diverse population of students, and a willingness to embrace the traditions and family atmosphere that are hallmarks of the Frankfort Independent School District. Candidates must have Kentucky administrative and school finance experience as well as a background in all facets of P-12 education and must hold or be eligible for a Kentucky superintendent’s certification.
Though it is the state capital, Frankfort provides a small town atmosphere with many of the advantages of a metropolitan area. From the avid sports fan to the supporter of the arts, there is something available for everyone.
This city of approximately 28,000 residents is home to many historic landmarks and state government offices, including the Kentucky History Center, the State Capitol and the Governor’s Mansion.
With 145 highly trained and dedicated employees, the system serves students through two schools: Second Street School houses students Preschool - 8th grade and Frankfort High School houses students 9th-12th grades. The district also maintains an alternative education program, Panther Transition Academy, for grades 9-12 within Frankfort High School.
