Employee Spotlight: Melissa Rice
What an honor it is to be considered as the Frankfort Independent School’s Employee Spotlight. I have dedicated many years as an employee of the Frankfort Independent School system. I began my career as a caregiver/teacher in the Itty Bitty Prep program almost 20 years ago. Housed at Second Street School, I cared for and taught many of our community’s children when they were babies to a couple of years old. I still have children that call me “Momma Rice”. What a sweet feeling to know that I made a loving impact on a child’s life.
When a need arose for bus drivers, I was happy to lend a helping hand and drive for the school system. Knowing that you are an important, integral part of a child’s school day by getting them to school and home safely means the world to me. Now, working as Transportation Supervisor, I feel it is just as important to help train other drivers to care for our small Frankfort community’s children. As drivers, we set the tone for the student’s day. I want that to be the most positive tone possible so that the student will have a great day at school.
Everyone that knows me, knows that I have dedicated my life to caring for children. Whether I am on the bus or in the classroom, I strive to make an impact on children's lives.
I am happily married to Paul Rice, my husband of 38 years. We have a son and two daughters; Josh, Kayla and Tabby. We have made our home in and around Frankfort for almost 35 years. Now with a large family that includes grandchildren, I certainly keep myself busy.
I want to thank the Frankfort Independent School system for giving me the opportunity to work in a loving, family atmosphere and to grow as an employee.
